The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is inviting applications for its Scholarship Programme for the period 2025-2027. This initiative targets doctoral students who have been enrolled for at least a year, as well as individuals conducting post-doctoral research. Research proposals are encouraged in areas related to climate change, including topics such as living soils, biodiversity, regenerative viticulture, agroforestry, water management, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, and the terrestrial carbon cycle.

Scholarship Details:

  • Funding: Each scholarship provides up to €15,000 per year for a maximum of two years during the 2025-2027 period.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be PhD students enrolled for at least one year or individuals undertaking post-doctoral research.

  • Candidates should be citizens of developing countries. Priority will be given to students from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) who are not studying in their country of origin.

Selection Process:

  1. The IPCC Secretariat screens all applications for eligibility and assigns them to Expert Reviewers, including previous and current IPCC Coordinating Lead Authors, Lead Authors, Review Editors, and Bureau Members.

  2. Expert Reviewers evaluate the applications and proposals, making recommendations to the IPCC Scholarship Programme Science Board, which comprises the IPCC Chair and the three Vice-Chairs.
